As a musician and composer who works through different mediums, the ability to create brings joy and love to my heart. First, i am a percussionist, with this background I have learned that rhythm can be versatile and so important to the musical craft. Having the ability top performer with trash cans, mallet instruments, and auxiliary percussion.
I also write music. I write music for a wide range of instruments working directly with artists that specialize on those instruments. This allows me to gain a deep understanding of the instruments and how a player thinks about their instruments. I use all types of ways to write music, including musical transcriptions and Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) like Fl Studio, and Ableton.
I use different ways to convey my compositions as typically when I work write music on DAW it is electronic composition in the genre of Hip Hop, however written transcriptions are more for solo/group instrumentation. This allows me to work with artists who are specialist in their instrument.
I typically work with instrumental music leaving the guest to interpret the titles that I create. Things like “reflection from my walk (last night)” a piano composition I have written and “Dear…” a string ensemble composition all allow the listener to build a world in their own head. Allowing the listener to have a closer meaning to the music create. One experience or feeling to me is not the same for the listener and this is what I love about writing music, the emotions one can possibly feel just from listening to it, I’m able to build a foundation of a memory or a feeling with the music I create and the audience puts in the meaning.
Two big inspirations or influences that have guided my arts and how I consume or think about art are my parents. Since I was a kid they have introduced me to so many different art mediums. But mainly my dad is a music producer and has taught me how to collect records and has developed my love for Hip Hop. Developing this love for the genre had only presented a wide range of music through the art of sampling, allowing me to get exposed to some many different genres that would later affect my own personal taste in music. On the other hand my mom is an Aztec Dancer and has danced in the LA community for over 40 years now. Growing up in an indigenous household I have learned dedication and discipline to arts by wanting to present and explore different mediums like dancing, custom design, and music without any materialistic gain. I try to apply this same mind set on any project I am working on to create something beautiful and meaningful to the listener
